IT ALL STARTED WITH A WRITING ASSIGNMENT

It was in 1999 - 2000 that Masterpage, an editorial agency specialising in writing assignments that involve both creativity and research, was given the assignment of doing a special on traditional Indian games.

SCHOOLS STARTED SHOWING INTEREST IN TRADITIONAL GAMES

The subject was fascinating and soon evolved into a series of articles on traditional games in Young World of The Hindu. The Masterpage team headed by Vinita Sidhartha, became more and more fascinated by the subject. Many schools called in expressing interest in these games.

A LEARNING MODULE WAS DEVELOPED

Among them was M.CT.M. Chidambaram Chettiar Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Alwarpet. Masterpage worked with the teachers of M.CT.M putting together a learning module based on these games. Thus, the games went beyond tradition and fun to take on an additional avatar - learning tools.

THE FLOOR DIDN'T WORK ANY LONGER

But one problem was common to all - how did one play without the right equipment. Many of these games were traditionally played with the game board drawn on the floor - something that was not feasible in the modern world.

PEOPLE NEEDED THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT...
KREEDA

It was then that Masterpage realised the need to create the right equipment in order to revive these games. From this idea was born Kreeda. Kreeda meaning "play" in Sanskrit is involved in reviving traditional games and learning through play. The games have been created keeping tradition in mind and have also been made as environment friendly as possible by avoiding plastics and using naturally available material.
